Stamplorations~ Tutorial~ Altered Frame

Good morning y'all and happy Monday! I'm here to share with you a fun altered project and tutorial I made for STAMPlorations

I love going to garage sales and picking up all sorts of odd and ends...usually to alter them in some way. A month ago I came across a frame with a quote inside...and knew I could turn it into something I could use to hang my lil' makes in my craft room.

Pretty, but not for me. So here's my process on how I altered the frame :

I started by taking out the center panel with the quote.

I gave it a good coat of gesso

I used Dylusions Calypso Teal Paint and gave it 2 coats.

After it dried, I used the Mini Honeycomb Delight Stencil with Lemon Zest Dylusions Paint and a mini blending tool.

While the frame was drying, I taped off the Mini Bold Florals Stencil so that only one them was visible. I then used Bubblegum Pink Dylusions Paint with the stencil onto tissue paper. I also stamped a few circles from the Artsy Border Maker with Black Archival ink onto the tissue paper. I then cut them all out.

I used flowers from the Big Bloom Factory stamp set and embossed them with white embossing powder onto watercolor paper.I used distress inks to color them up and then fussy cut them out.

Now here's the fun part. :o) I turned the frame over onto it's backside and grabbed some multicolored twine and a staple gun. I stapled the twine in different directions until I was happy with the design. I used heavy duty duct tape on the ends to ensure they stayed put.

I then added my tissue paper flowers, tissue paper circles and Big Bloom Factory flowers onto the frame with Matte Medium and Glossy Accents. I finished by adding some Liquid Pearls to the pink tissue paper flower centers.

Voila! I now have a fun and vibrant frame that I can hang my photos, tags, cards and ATC's in my craft room using mini clothes pins. :o)

I sure hope I've inspired you to go bargain hunting and altering items to suit your needs. :o)

Faery Ink~ Coco Faery Artist

Good Morning Crafty Friends, I'm here to share a lil' make I made for
http://faeryink.com/

using the Newly  Released Coco Faery Artist. Ok, seriously, how cute is she????
I started with a Painter's Palette I had, primed it with Gesso and sprayed with different mist sprays. I then added some texture with paint and stencils. I went online and searched for Paint Splatters and cut them out with my Silhouette Curio and  adhered them with Matte Medium. I also created my sentiment on the Silhouette Curio then traced and doodled with my Faber Castell Black Pitt Pen and White Signo Gel pen.

I colored this lil' Artist with Spectrum Noir Markers and used the new Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens on her wings. Adhered her with some foam dots for added dimension.

I had a lot of fun with this make and hope I've inspired you to get crafty today! ;o)

Good Morning Crafty Friends, I'm here to share a journal cover I made for

using the new release "Cheerful Mushroom Fae".
I knew as soon as I saw this image that I wanted to make a journal cover for a friend. She LURVES Fairies and those cute lil' mushrooms! hehehe
I started by priming the notebook covers with a layer of Gesso layering pieced of torn DP and gluing it down using Matte Medium. After it dried, I used Twinkling H20'S    in Jasmine, Ruby Red and Poppy Red.  I then added some texture using Prima "Sunrise Sunset" Stencil and some Liquitex Modeling Paste Stamped with various stamps in Archival Jet Black Ink and added some Doilies. Finished with Some Mushroom Die Cuts (sorry got these in a swap so don't know the name) and some white splatters using White Acrylic Paint mixed with water.

Time for a new challenge and it is an Anything Goes Challenge with a twist!  Please check the rules here.

and the twist is:

ALTERED ART

Add a digi to any object (bottle, clock and more)

This challenge I used the beautiful Birds & Hair.

Now I started with a box I had from a Starbucks Mug Set I got

 Here is the inside:

Now, here's my altered box:

I started by priming the inside and outside with Gesso. I then inked the edges of some Recollections DP with Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo distress stains. I also used old dictionary paper for the inside of the box.
I colored the photo with SN Markers

I used my Spellbinders Ovals to cut out the image and glued it to the top of the box with Liquitex Matte Medium.

I then glued Flowers, Mesh Ribbon, Vintage Buttons and Pearls from my stash onto the box. I then primed them with a coat of Gesso (mixed with Water). Once it was dry, I sprayed with Distress Gold Stain,
Smooch Stains   and Lindy's Stamp Gang- Steampunk Sepia
 Love the dimension it gave:

I added some metal embellishments to the front of the box and finished off with red gems
