MWLW New Release: Mermaids at Sea!

Good Morning Crafty Friends!

I'm here to share a candle I made for
http://mywhimsicallittleworld.blogspot.ca/

This week's New Digital Release is all about the Mermaids!:Friendship, All is Calm and Love

I used Love this week- Just love the mermaids, they are all unique and so GORGEOUS!

I started with aqua ribbon around the base of the candle and then used some Shells I found at the ocean by my house (cleaned of course...lol); the tiny ones are from Michael's. Used aqua Skittles as I thought it looked like beach glass. The netted ribbon is from Walmart...as soon as I saw it, I was like "Ooooooo that looks like netting!" so I twisted it up and around the candle and attached seashells and skittles to look like it was caught in the netting.

Here's a close-up of my colored image with SN Markers:

Here's a side view of the netting with it's catch of the day! And yes, I have burnt fingertips from attaching those lil' guys with a glue gun! Note to self: Find tweezers that will hold awkward shells before going near a HOT glue gun again...LOL!:

and here's the back of the candle:

How did I do this you ask?
  1. I taped tissue paper onto Cardstock- ensure to tape the tissue to the BACK of the card stock so it's folded over the edges. This ensures its stays tight and will run thru the printer smoothly.
  2. I printed the image and colored it with SN Markers while it's still ATTACHED to the cardstock. This ensures that you don't tear the tissue as you color it. Just be careful and use flicking or subtle motions...I went over colors with the violet and teal by layering the colors versus trying to blend it on the tissue paper.
  3. Once it's colored, I cut around the image and placed it on the candle where I wanted it. Wrapped it with wax paper and heated with my embossing gun. Just be sure to heat evenly by sweeping back and forth versus heating the same spot as you want to heat enough to stick the wax onto the tissue paper not melt the candle underneath. You'll know it's attached to the candle,  as your image will come thru the wax paper clearer. ;o)
  4. That's it, you decorate and embellish as desired.

Sunflowers Everywhere!

Good Morning Crafty friends!
Happy Canada Day to those celebrating it! :o)

It's my turn to host DT DAY over at

http://meljensdesignsdt.blogspot.ca/

For today's inspiration, I have a candle\Card set to share with you.

I used CS from American Crafts and DP from My Mind's Eye. Honeycomb EF is from Cuttlebug.
To Finish, I used Sunflowers and Metal Bug charms from my stash.

I colored both images with SN Markers and White Gellyroll pen.

Here's a close up of the Candle:

Now I always get asked how I print the Digital Images on Tissue paper...well I tape the Tissue paper to a cardstock- taping on the back of the cardstock, keeping it tight. Then I print and wooohooo. I keep it on the CS to color the image and then cut it out. EZY PZY! :o)

Don't forget you have until July 4th (9pm PST) to about the SUMMER TREAT SALE!

Mother's Daisy Chain

Hello my crafty friends!

 I'm here to share
a Candle with you, that I made for

Diane has AMAZING Digital sets for all occasions.

Her Mother's Day sets were beautiful, so I made a mother's day gift for my mom.

Here's the back of the candle:

I printed the images onto tissue paper and heat set onto my candle. I finished it off with a Daisy Ribbon from Michael's; then added some liquid pearls into the centers.

The Daisies on the Front image have Yellow Stickles on the Centers- love the dimension and sparkle they add.

Hand- Stamped Candles

Ok, sometimes when I'm left to my Own devices I try something and it works....then again, sometimes it doesn't turn out. This is one of those times that it totally works! :o)

You can find the tutorial from Splitcoaststampers here.

I hand-stamped images onto candles using tissue paper, wax paper and my heat embosser. I can only say, watch out for the heat on both your candle and your little hands...Ask me how I know. ;o) I also used various coloring mediums such as Bic Markers, Tombow Markers (these work best for fine detailed images). Also various inks such as dyed ink (dries quicker), Chalk inks and pigment inks (just allow images to dry completely before heating).

These make great gifts! Perfect for that special someone as you can customize it personally. I'd love to hear what you think or see what you've created!

Happy Stampin'!
